Another day, another rock and roll Hall of Fame performance. The O'Jays hit the Belly Up --Aspen, and they hit it hard. Their hit single, For the Love of Money (you've heard it...."money, money money, money,money...some people--got to have it"....theme from The Apprentice) was one of many classics they kicked out. Backstabber's, Love Train, Use ta be my girl and many others made for a fun soulful event. Soul music is not the typical style embraced in Aspen, but if the songs are about money, sex and betrayal, it works.
You may wonder why a blog about Aspen isn't talking about skiing. Well, the skiing is sh*t. Zero inches of new snow, icy, hard packed conditions and more tourists than ever. There have been lots of injuries on the slopes this week. Everything from mild concussions, to cracked ribs to a 55 year old Chicagoan who was paralyzed (hopefully temporarily) from the waist down and had to be air lifted to the hospital in Grand Junction. Last week a guy skied through the boundary rope on Walsh's and ended up submerged in the River, with a torn ACL. He saved his own life by making an 8 hour crawl to the road. He could've used his cell phone to call for help, but he forgot he had it with him, a first for a New Yorker. The good news is, he's alive. He's considering legal action against the SkiCo, but what would he sue for, skier stupidity?
So everyone is here now. You name 'em they're here. Check out the new pix.
